Lydia's Father's Day Gift

Tim likes to take naps on Sundays, but he rarely gets to. Since it was Father's Day I figured he deserved a good nap. After I put Ali in bed, Lydia started to watch "High School Musical" so I figured I could fit in a short nap too. As Tim and I were snoozing, Lydia found some scissors. She came upstairs to get our opinion when she was done. Tim looked at her grogily.
Tim: Did you cut your hair?
Lydia: Yes, do you like it?
Tim: Umm, who told you to cut your hair?
Lydia: The mouses did. (The mouses are her imaginary friends. There are 3 of them and they do everything with her)
Tim: Boy are you in trouble.

Here is a side view of the damage. I think it looks like a really bad 80's haircut. As she looked in the mirror Lydia lamented, "The mouses don't like my haircut." Tim is calling her his son. I don't think it's that short, but I hope the hair stylist can work a miracle.

At least she cleaned up after herself and put all her hair in the garbage can. She is pretty sad that we have to go and get it cut today. Ah well, maybe every little girl needs to learn this lesson at some point.

  1. ugh! I don't know why little girls are so fascinated with scissors!!

    Abbie gave herself a mullet.

    Twice.

After the second time I told her we were going to get it cut like Athen's.

    she's still a cutie!

  3. Oh no!! Oh, I'm sorry - but I have to laugh a little bit. I did the exact same thing at her age!! I grabbed some scissors and started snipping away! The hairstylist told my Mom something that I will past along to you - you are super lucky that she cut straight across rather than on top of her head! I guess a lot of kids go straight for their bangs and start cutting up their scalp. She is so cute, she could have a buzz cut and she would be adorable!

  4. Oh wow! What a thoughtful Father's Day present :) It doesn't look too bad from the front, but I hope the hairstylist was able to make it into something cute all around.

  5. So terrible and yet so hilarious. That truly is amazing how 80's it looks. I'm sure it will clean up fine. Luckily the worst we've dealt with so far is a clipping of cat whiskers.

  6. HAHAHAHA! Those pesky mouses are always causing trouble. Actually she did a fairly decent job...from the front. At least it will be nice a cool for the summer. I can’t wait to see her new hair cut in a month!
