Home Again, Home Again Jiggity Jig

The girls and I are off to the beautiful Washington State. We will be flying into Seattle and staying with 2 of my sisters for several days. Then we head off to the desert side of the state. My mom, 2 more sisters, and a brother live in Eastern Washington. We'll be there for about 2 weeks. We are so excited to see everyone. Then we drive back to Utah with my sister and her kids. I'm nervous to fly with two little ones by myself, but the 14 hour drive won't be too fun either. I did buy new toys for each girl during traveling times. I got that tip from Jessica G. I will be putting the girls in pull-ups hoping to reduce the number of stops.

Tim isn't coming with us. He has school, work, and scout camp to keep him occupied. We chose to be gone while he is at camp so it doesn't make us sad he is gone all week. I don't know how you ladies with hubbies that travel a lot do it. By the end of the day I need to know Tim is coming home to offer some relief. The girls need it too. He likes scouting though. It's a good spot for him. Lydia was pretty sad she couldn't go to scout camp with daddy. I'll be posting events from our trip from abroad. I think they have internet in Washington too. :)

Anymore travel tips from you great moms out there?

  1. Well, the only travel tip I have, is instead of bringing crayons and paper for activities, I use a magnadoodle. That way nothing gets messy, and it work for hours. Hope to see you when you come to Noelle's. Love Audra

  2. Those no mess magic marker things are great. They can color all they want and it stays only on the paper.
Good luck and we CAN'T WAIT to see you tomorrow!

  3. New crayons are always very cool (and cheap)! While in the car, if you have the room, pack a training potty. Having this handy device along has saved us many wet moments.

  5. Oooh, sorry I'm late leaving this comment! I can tell you that music has saved me on car trips. I make a playlist of Cache's favorite songs and we play them in the car - we all sing along and it helps the time go by quickly. We also try to hit the road just before their naptime in hopes they will have a nice, long nap in the car. The promise of a little snack at gas stations (crackers, fruit, juice) helps them look forward to the stops and gets them excited!

  6. So did you survive the flight with the kids by yourself?

  7. Either a laptop that plays dvds or a portable dvd player. I think they are invaluable with toddlers. Have a fun trip, I'm sure it'll go great.
