It's a BOY!!

We had our ultrasound today and everything looks good and healthy. When the Dr. walked in he asked Lydia if she wanted a brother or sister, she answered that she wanted a brother. Upon returning home she drew a cute picture of her reading a story to her baby brother. She's very excited. I'm excited of course, but a little apprehensive about raising a boy as opposed to a girl. Tim is walking a little taller and VERY excited about getting a son. He's envisioning coamping, hking, golfing, and rebuilding old cars with his son. He's a little worried about his boy being hen pecked with so many older, spirited girls in the house. We went to Target to pick out an outfit to celebrate. It went something like this:
Angie: Oh cute! How about this one.
Tim: No way! We aren't going for cute here anymore.
Lydia: This one is cute! It has hearts.
Tim: Ummm, I'm the authority figure now on clothes for the baby. This is the right one.
Angie: Isn't this one cute too?
Tim: No, this one. You may need to run clothes by me before you buy them for my son.

He said "my son" a lot today. For a moment I was a little scared he wouldn't take his girls on the fun adventures they enjoy so much with him. Then he bought a sled and asked the girls if they wanted to go sledding today. So, all is well in our household. We are excited to welcome this baby boy into our home in a few months.

So, what are some of the little differences you've noticed between raising sons vs. daughters?

  2. Congratulations! Yay for little boys. I don't have girls to compare to, but my brother and his wife have two girls and a boy, just like you guys, so they would be the ones to ask about the differences between raising girls and boys.

  3. I am so excited for you. I'm told that boys are easier- but not until they're older... I'm still waiting for them to get there! Tim will be such a good role model and father to a son.

  5. Congrats on the baby boy!

Boys are great! They love cars, dirt, running, yelling, and being crazy! Well maybe just my boys are crazy :)

According to Victor, boys don't have dolls or figurines...they are called action figures. Just wanted to let you know, I made that error.

  6. Yay for boy, you'll love it. Boys can be crazier, but then I've met plenty of crazy girls too. I don't think you'll find all that much difference in the beginning except for possibly a penchant to pull things apart. That's funny that Tim is enjoying picking out the clothes. Good for him, one less thing for you to do.

  7. I don't have much advice since I only have boys, but you will LOVE your little guy! It makes me laugh about Tim picking out clothes for him - Cody is sort of the same way. Baby boy clothes are so cute, I love shopping for them! He will love trucks and bouncy balls, tools and blocks. I'm not worried about you at all, you'll do great! Congratulations!!

PS - A High School friend of mine is in your ward - Jessica Hayward!

  8. Okay I only have a boy, but comparing him to Shayla it's amazing how different they are...but still love playing with each other. Dallin loves cars (would make the car sound at 18 mo), trains (LOVES Thomas), blocks (especially destroying), and doing anything outside. When it snowed he dragged me out there every morning for at least 2 hours.

  9. Congrats on the boy, they are a lot calmer than my girl, and a lot less dramatic. My boys, tend to be better babies, but awful pregnancies, good luck. Love Audra
